Ulysse Loup

Ulysse Loup is a Franco-Swiss bassist and composer based in Bern (CH).

Born in Geneva (CH), he moved to Bern in 2017 to study at the Bern University of the Arts. There, he pursued a bachelor's degree in jazz bass and later a master's degree in composition. Inspired by contemporary jazz, free improvisation, and new music, he creates hybrid music. He enjoys collaborating with artists from diverse backgrounds and has composed for theater and dance performances.

Ulysse performs in about ten groups in Switzerland and Europe. He composes for and/or performs with the trio Allure, Noblique, Tzupati Orchestra, Kolotoč, Y.T.T, Fusoosh, 0°W, among others. He has shared the stage with musicians such as Django Bates, Jim Black, Stefan Schultze, and others. He appears on various albums including "Apilaptok," "Dualité Cohérente," "Elbow Grease," and "Half a Dozen. »

Passionate about traveling, he explores the globe by sailboat or bicycle, which serves as significant inspiration for his compositions. For example, the album "Apilaptok" (*2023) was written after an expedition to Greenland.
